Fact Sheet: Prospects and Challenges of Harnessing the Demographic Dividend in Tanzania
As a part of a concerted effort to enhance advocacy efforts in Tanzania that will lead to increased support for family planning, reproductive health, and maternal and child health services, E2A and Pathfinder International commissioned a research policy paper on the Demographic Dividend, which is based on an economic analysis of the situation in Tanzania. This fact sheet describes key points from that paper: Prospects and Challenges of Harnessing Demographic Dividend in Tanzania, 2014. The paper was written by the School of Economics, University of Dar es Salaam, with technical support from the African Institute for Development Policy. The paper highlights the impact of rapid population growth on education, employment, the health sector, and the economy, and makes recommendations for harnessing the Demographic Dividend in Tanzania.
