E2A at ICFP: January 26, 2016

On the second day at the International Conference on Family Planning, in Nusa Dua, Indonesia, E2A staff gave presentations focused on: a postpartum family planning program in Cameroon which has resulted in the spike in uptake of contraceptives, particularly long-acting methods; efforts to improve and enhance access to postabortion care services in Togo; and support to faith-based organizations in Africa to deliver family planning and reproductive health services. Three presentations from E2A staff covered programs and tools for youth: the decision-making tool on youth-friendly services—Thinking outside the separate space: A decision-making tool for designing youth-friendly services—developed by E2A and Pathfinder International; a study in Mozambique that examined use of text messages to deliver information and stories related to sexual and reproductive health; and the scale-up of youth-friendly services in the Oromia region of Ethiopia. The day closed with a press conference on release of the Global Consensus Statement: Committing to Full and Informed Choice of Contraceptives for Adolescents and Youth formulated by a number of a number of nongovernmental organizations, professional associations, and donors, including the E2A consortium.
